My official announcement I made a few weeks ago to my friends and family:

"Well here it is, my official announcement. I have been talking about doing it for 5 years now and I've finally decided to take the plunge. I am going to be a surrogate. I chose an agency 2 months ago, passed all the screening process and am now in the process of matching with couples who are open to my "more holistic" ways if you will. For those who are concerned please let me rest your worries, I'm just the oven so its none of my DNA, I LOVE being pregnant and the birth process but I don't want any more kids in the foreseeable future if at all and this is the best way for me to be able to get the best of both worlds. I will be compensated about $30,000. I'm not doing this for the money, I figured its something I've always wanted to do and Sammy needs a college fund now that Benji's is paid off. I've been researching and planning for 5 years so this is not an impulsive move on my part. Nik and our family are on board as well. After the loss of our baby back in '08 I have felt that someone was missing in the world, our family is complete but I'd like to give this gift to an infertile couple where this is their last chance at parenthood with their own DNA."

I received so much love and support from my friends. We waited to tell a few family members and good friends first then made it public. We didn't want my in-laws finding out over facebook obviously. My mother in law and my father are apprehensive and concerned for my health but my husband of 10+ years is very supportive and my kids are excited too although it took a while for them to understand that we wont get to keep the baby because its not "our baby".
